If we only had two to three hours to spend on the water and wanted show our friends or family what it's like to experience the thrill of Class III Colorado whitewater rafting and the beauty of Glenwood Canyon, this would be the trip we'd take them on. And if we only had two hours because everyone had plans after the trip, well, we'd probably cancel them so we could all go rafting.

I had a friend visiting from out of state, I always like to plan activities for us to do that maybe otherwise I wouldn’t have the chance to do. For this trip I chose whitewater rafting. Not going to lie, we were both nervous because we had heard about some accidents on the water and that there was too much water in the river right now because of all the snow that had just melted. Not that these things aren’t to worry about because anything can happen when dealing with Mother Nature. Defiance really did a great job of instructing us on safety and different scenarios that could arise out on the river. We got Ana as our guide, and she was amazing. We were in the 4pm time slot but you would have never known that she had been down the same stretch of the river a few times before that. She had awesome energy the whole way. Lots of information about the area (both real and imaginative) we were so glad that we had her as our guide, because while all the other rafts seemed to be having a fine time. They all knew we were having a better time because we were constantly announcing it to the world. If you choose to use Defiance as your rafting company make sure you catch a glimpse of the elusive beaver-sharks. They are quick.

We did the half day Glenwood Canyon trip. Found a great price on Groupon. Our guide Jeremy was incredible. We had a timid person in our group and the entire Defiance staff helped put this person at ease. We also had two small kids in the group and Jeremy could not have done a better job with the kids. Incredible experience, highly recommended. Also - unlike most tourist type of attractions, their photography package is affordable, allowing you to share memories from your trip with people at home. Probably one of the top "adventure" type things we've done as a family.
