FAQs

How do I use my pass to visit the Statue of Liberty?
Present your pass at one of the Statue Cruises ticket counters inside Castle Clinton at Battery Park. The Ferry requires airport-level security, so be prepared for a long wait. Allow at least 2 hours to visit one island and 4 hours to visit Ellis & Liberty islands. Your pass provides you access to the island only. Pedestal & crown access requires reservations and space is limited, and is not included with your pass.

When does my pass expire?
You have 2 years from purchase to activate your pass or it will expire. Visiting your first attraction activates your pass. Then, you have 60 days to use your pass. You may visit an attraction once per the life of the pass, unless otherwise noted.

Top of the Rock

Manhattan is all about skylines and Top of the Rock is up there with the best. You'll hop in a glass elevator and whizz 70 floors up to the Top of the Rock Observatory. Comprising both indoor and outdoor spaces, this 55,000 square-foot area is made up of three observation decks that give you unobstructed, 360-degree views of the city, including Central Park, the Hudson River and even Connecticut on a clear day. Best of all, the Art Deco building offers something the Empire State Building never will – a view of the Empire State Building. PLEASE NOTE: You will need to wait in line to receive a time slot. We recommend arriving between 9AM and 3PM for the shortest wait times.

One World Observatory

Discover the dizzying heights of the One World Observatory, the tallest building in the Western Hemisphere. You’ll be amazed by 360° degree views over New York, reaching out to Brooklyn, Manhattan, the Statue of Liberty, the Empire State Building and more. Edge NYC

The Edge is New York City’s most exciting new attraction, set high above the fabulous, glimmering, brand new Hudson Yards! You’ll ride the elevator 100 stories into the sky, then step out in the open air onto a vast viewing platform with the famous skyline right before your eyes.

Statue of Liberty

Visit the grounds of Liberty Island and get unbeatable views of Lady Liberty and downtown Manhattan aboard a ferry. Then, head over to Ellis Island to learn all about American immigration and research your family history at the Ellis Island Immigration Museum. PLEASE NOTE: Reservations are required for this activity. Check the digital guide for instructions. Also note that access to the Pedestal and Crown of the Statue of Liberty is not included with your Pass. If you wish add access to those parts of the statue, you will need book Crown Reserve and/or Pedestal Reserve tickets separately and make reservations as soon as possible as space is limited and tours often sell out months in advance.

Providing magnificent views of the Manhattan skyline and interesting tidbits about the city and its surroundings, Circle Line Sightseeing Cruises is a true New York institution and a “must-see” attraction while in town. Your New York Explorer Pass offers a variety of cruise options and tours, giving you unparalleled views of Manhattan so you can fill your social media with plenty of envy-inducing snaps. Plus, the live narration means you won’t miss any interesting tidbits about your watery surroundings. Sail past the world-famous Statue of Liberty, swing by historic Ellis Island, and sail right until the Brooklyn Bridge. The National 9/11 Memorial & Museum

The 9/11 Memorial and Museum honor the nearly 3,000 victims of these attacks and all those who risked their lives to save others. Head to the Memorial’s twin reflecting pools that sit in the footprint of where the Twin Towers once stood. These pools are each nearly an acre in size and feature the largest manmade waterfalls in North America. The names of every person who died in the 2001 and 1993 attacks are inscribed into the bronze panels edging the pools. Your New York Explorer Pass provides entry to the museum's 110,000 square feet of exhibition space, where you’ll experience the story of 9/11 through multimedia displays, archives, narratives, and a collection of monumental and authentic artifacts. American Museum of Natural History

The American Museum of Natural History is one of the largest in the world and over five million history buffs visit every year. Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum

The Museum of Modern Art (MoMA)

Well worth the money if, like us, you do many sights. Make sure you collect your pass and booklet on the first day so you know where to get your tickets.

Perfect for one week in NYC. Only thing we couldn't do was Ellis Island - the line was way too long!

The choices were very good. We enjoyed the 3 that we chose, the Rockefeller Center tour, Top of the Rock and the double decker hop on, hop off bus tour. We did find it extremely frustrating that we had to walk down to 42nd St to get our voucher exchanged for a bus ticket, then walk back up about 8 blocks to catch the bus. Also, we passed a Heartland Brewery on the way but had to walk an extra 2 blocks beyond the 8 blocks that we already had to go out of our way because it was the only location that honored the discount coupon. That was a lot of unnecessary walking, because we spent our entire day walking around the city and to from our hotel, which was a good distance away. If you take the bus tour late in the day, I recommend that you do not get off at any of the stops. We saw some very angry passengers who had been waiting for a return bus, and 4 full buses had passed them up. Our bus also passed them up, promising that another bus would be along in about a half hour. That really got the crowd going; they had been waiting almost an hour already. Other than those issues, we had a wonderful day in the city. We love trips to NYC!!!
