What To Expect

Assateague Lighthouse

We will take you on a grand adventure around Assateague Island. We will get to see the Assateague Lighthouse from the water, which is the best view of the Lighthouse.

Chincoteague Island

We might get a chance to see the wild Chincoteague ponies. We will take you to the most remote areas of the islands to spot rare native birds. This boat tour is great for all ages.

Captain John was a wonderful guide! So knowledgeable about the area. We saw lots of wildlife and ponies from afar. Although was a chilly day (though sunny!) we could tell he was trying to find the best experience possible for us. 10/10 recommend. Just sit back and enjoy the beauty of this incredible creation.

We thought the tour was just okay. We spent the vast majority of the time looking at marine life rather than looking for the ponies. We literally spent about 7-8 minutes stopped in front of some marshes. The captain said there were some ponies out, but they were too far away to see. Quite frankly I was disappointed we didn’t stay longer to give them a chance to come closer.

Thank you so much for going on the Chincoteague boat tour with us. On the island tours please remember that nature is very unpredictable. Some times the ponies are very close for great viewing and other times at a distance and sometimes you don’t see them at all. Please remember you are not going to a zoo you are going on a grand adventure in the wilderness. You did not leave your name on the review so I am not 100% sure which tour this was but I believe this was the one in which we spotted dolphins, whales, bald eagles, osprey, ponies at a distance and pelicans and even a sea turtle. Was expecting to learn some history about the area and local horses but got very little. There was not much interaction with guide unless He was asked a question

Thank you for going on the Grand Boat Tour around the islands. God blessed us with an unbelievable day. Sun was shining bright, slight ocean breeze and wildlife all around. I have to say my wife laughed at this feedback, I am known as a talker and she is planning on going on a few tours with me now because she said if I am not saying much that would be a great tour! We love talking about the rich history of Chincoteague island and the world famous Chincoteague ponies. I have lived here forever and my ancestors were some of the first settlers to land here on Chincoteague island. I think the one thing that slowed me down from speaking was you yelling at your partner a few times, I thought I better be quiet.
