Your expert guide will meet you at the Pavilion next to the Upper Falls Parking Area at 8AM. This is also the staring point for Uncle Tom's Trail. The hike is a 6-mile loop. The hike is along the Canyon Rim, through the forest out to Ribbon Lake, and then past a geyser basin, Clear Lake, and the Wapiti Meadows with big views of the Hayden Valley. This was my first time in Yellowstone, and I am so happy I went finally. Yellowstone is spectacular and no photo can capture its beauty, energy or qi. One must experience Yellowstone personally. But I really don't want to tout it too much because it already attracts enough people.

First of all I want to encourage everyone to read the negative reviews because there is a definite pattern of Josh being late or not showing up at all. In fact a couple that was there waiting with me said that Josh was a half hour late for another hike they had done with him. Thereā€™s also a pattern in their responses. Read them. Hereā€™s my experience with Yellowstone Hiking Guides. I booked the Lamar Valley hike months in advance and had been looking forward to it. I received a confirmation email and was reminded to be at the trailhead at 8:00am. I had about an hour and a half drive so I left a little before 6:30am. I got to the trailhead a little early and waited. As time went by I began talking with the other hikers. At about 8:30 Josh had not shown up yet and one of the hikers said that he sent an email at 6:30 saying he would be a late and would arrive by 8:30. So, if anyone has been to any national park they know there is no cell reception. If anyone has been to Yellowstone they know it is a very long drive to get anywhere. At 9:00 Josh had still not shown up. I was done waiting and left. The thing I believe Josh forgets is that we tourists travel from all around the world to come to this magical place and for many of us it is a once in a lifetime experience. To treat us with such disrespect and unprofessional behavior is absolutely disgusting. Yes, Josh sent an email but also didnā€™t live up to it. Yes, I received a refund. Yes, Josh offered a free hike to make up for it. My question to him was that he already ruined one day of my vacation, why should I trust him to not ruin another one. So, buyer beware and do your research. I believe Josh means well but is not responsible enough to trust with a full day of your vacation.

We have run thousands of trips in Yellowstone on time as scheduled. When a client books a trip with Yellowstone Hiking Guides we will be there on time as promised. I am very sorry to have kept you waiting. Errors can sometimes occur. If they do we will bend over backward to try to make up for it.

We had an amazing hike with Emily Jo. She had everything you needed for the hike. She was very knowledgeable about the area. She knew her plants, her tracks, and her animal poop - lol. She also taught us how to identify a bear tree. Halfway through the hike we stopped at Ribbon Lake for a picnic lunch - a great sandwich with lots of other treats. This hike allowed us to see parts of the park many don't see making us members of the 1% Club because most people don't venture more than a mile off the road. We would hike with Emily again in a heartbeat!
