What To Expect

Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone

Your expert guide will meet you at the Pavilion next to the Upper Falls Parking Area at 8AM. This is also the staring point for Uncle Tom's Trail. The hike is a 6-mile loop. The hike is along the Canyon Rim, through the forest out to Ribbon Lake, and then past a geyser basin, Clear Lake, and the Wapiti Meadows with big views of the Hayden Valley. If you hike one trail in Yellowstone this is it!

My parents joined my husband and I for a 4th of July getaway in Big Sky, MT. Looking to spend a day in Yellowstone, my dad found Yellowstone Hiking Guides and they had a perfect all day 7ish mile hike to Bunsen Peak. We were able to book online easily and working with Josh and Emily Jo to make arrangements was a piece of cake. The tour with Emily Jo was by far one of the best we've been on. She is awesome. So friendly and incredibly knowledgeable about everything in the park from the wildlife and plant life to the history of the NPS. Emily Jo provided everything we needed for the hike including delicious breakfast and lunch. (Think all inclusive resort but on a hike in a national park.) Besides the excellent service, Bunsen Peak is awesome. It's not crowded, the elevation and hike are manageable for those in decent shape, and the views are out of this world. As an added bonus, we even saw a group of wolf pups! I cannot say enough about how great Yellowstone Hiking Guides are. Definitely give them a call if you're looking for an amazing outdoor adventure.

We did two days with Josh and Emily. The first day was Lone Star Geyser, and the second day was Bunsun Peak. We had absolutely the best experience, they were awesome!!!! The hikes were great, and I loved how we were able to get off trail and explore the back country and the awesome detours Josh took us on were simply the best. We have pictures that are hard to believe are real. Both hikes were great as they were two completely different kind of hikes and complemented each other very well. Lastly a huge shout out to Josh for giving me great advise on proposing to my girlfriend a couple of days after our hike and warning me that my planned destination was probably under 10 feet of snow. Thanks Josh you saved me brother!!!! Can't wait to see you all again.

The hike was very easy and not too far from the the car. It was also close to the trail path and therefore I did not feel it was nothing that I could not have done on my own. I would have expected to go in some places better then other to see animals. The guides were very friendly and knowledgeable. They provide lunch that was nice too.
