We recently went on a 6 mile hike through Lamar Valley with Josh, Emily and Jake and our 3 sons (ages, 7, 8 & 16). It was, BY FAR, our favorite part of our vacation and I don't say that lightly. We had been on an epic 2 week journey across Utah, Wyoming and Montana covering 6 National Parks. We had been whitewater rafting, extreme jeeping in Moab, horseback riding in Bryce Canyon, hiked the Narrows in Zion, and without a doubt our day with Yellowstone Hiking Guides trumped everything!! My boys will have memories that will last a lifetime and the care and time that Josh took with them was above and beyond. We saw herds of bison, prong horns, and elk. We had an amazing picnic where Josh and Emily shared stories, showed them different rock formations and let them explore and find old bones. When my little ones finished the six miles they wanted to keep going!! At some point I put down my camera and stopped taking pictures because some things are just better left alone...it was better to just "be"... Many thanks!!

Without a doubt this was the absolute highlight of our trip!!! Josh, Emily Jo, and Jake were everything spectacular. When I initially made the reservation I wasn't 100% certain what the hike would entail, but I did know I wanted to get away from the crowds and off the paved road. They delivered this flawlessly. Our hiking group consisted of 2 teenagers, 2 kids under the age of 10, and 5 adults. Josh and Emily Jo are very conscious of their speed and the group capabilities. The hike though.....WOW! They take you away from the standard trails. They are incredibly knowledgeable and very keen eye on the wildlife that 99% of people would likely miss. In addition, they have knowledge that far exceeds what any YNP guidebook will provide. Amazingly great company and people. My 16 yo son and I are already planning next years adventure and we will no doubt spend several days with Josh & Emily Jo.

Our trip was perfect! Even Mother Nature cooperated. We experienced our own "Animal Kingdom". We saw grizzly bears, the big bison bull watching over his harem with all the new babies. The large gray wolf going back to her den. Bighorn sheep on steep rock walls. A magical real life video of the pack of coyotes stalking a Pronghorn. Emily Jo and Josh took us to beautiful waterfalls and meadows full of wild flowers. We saw Morning Glory Pool, Mammoth Hot Springs,The beautiful Yellowstone River,The Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone, and of course old Faithful. We heard lots of true history. Lots of true stories and old folk fables. No questions were left unanswered. I know Emily Jo and Josh cann't guarantee that you will see everything we saw, but I can guarantee they will do their best to give you a perfect hike.We will go again. We are looking forward to a Fall Hike. September sounds good to us! della and joe .
