We had a wonderful time and highly recommend doing a day-long hiking trip in the Lamar Valley with Josh and Emily Jo Mahon. We went in early June, when the wildflowers were in full bloom. The weather was perfect. We hiked about six miles off the trails and had lunch beside a river. Then hiked back. A wonderful day. Would definitely do it again.

My wife and I had such an amazing time with Josh and Emily Jo on our day hike! We started out meeting them by the Mammoth Springs visitor center. From there, we got in their car and were driven over to the Lamar Valley. We went with them on a roughly 6 mile hike, which lasted about 5 hours or so, around the valley and saw all sorts of amazing plants, wilderness, terrain, and wildlife! Though I'm sure they can't promise all that we saw each time they go out, we were treated to viewing an all out abundance of animals including deer, elk, bison, coyotes, marmots, chizzlers, various types of waterfowl, pronghorn, and yes(!) even bears!! Even more so than how scenic and amazing the hike was, the guides were what made this trip unforgettable! Josh and Emily Jo are amazing people with amazing stories, facts, and knowledge of the area! They never ceased to surprise my wife of myself when we would ask some obscure question and they would simply rattle off the answer without pause. Also, the lunch they had prepared for us was spectacular! I cannot recommend this hiking trip enough! It was, without a doubt, the highlight of our trip to Yellowstone and you can bet we will book another one on our next visit to the park!

Wonderful hike with Josh from Yellowstone Hiking Guides - he was great, had the perfect balance of informing on local flora and fauna, and letting you soak it in. Packed a great lunch, wonderful ride out to the valley in a clean and comfortable van, and two great hiking companions too. 10 out of 10.
