Our family got in touch with the Grand Canyon Railroad. We booked a trip to stay at the railway first night, train to the canyon second. We met an outstanding person by phone Joe. He offered a great insight to our trip. We then met Paul out front who was handling everyone's luggage. What a great guy. He offered suggestions to the area, like a family friend! He even went above and beyond the call of duty the next day we ran into him again, and he had remembered us. He was literally a welcome face, being so far from home, we met a few people we connected like family to. He was one of them!! Thanks Paul...

We had heard good things about the Grand Canyon Railway and decided to give it a try with our 13 year old. Overall it was great and a fun way to experience the Grand Canyon. The guys in the Wild West reenactments put their hearts into it...but we couldn’t hear a word during the pre show at the train depot, I would suggest a better miking system. Bring dollar bills for the mock train robbery, definitely the highlight on the way back! Also the train is cash only for snacks and drinks unless you pre paid for first class, which we did, well worth it for a more comfortable 2 hour ride. The morning snacks were just ok (coffee, juice, some fruit and pastries) but the afternoon ones were great and healthy (veggies and hummus, cheese and crackers). We also did the bus tour with lunch at the Canyon. The buffet lunch left a lot to be desired but the tour was fine, comfortable bus and knowledgeable guide. I would do the tour again but get lunch on your own, that is an option. All in all we had a fun memory making experience and it was a good package that could use a few tweaks here and there. And seeing the Grand Canyon was AMAZING!!

We took the Grand Canyon Railway, and stayed at the hotel, with our two granddaughters and could not have had a better experience. The hotel was great and the buffet, while not 5 star, was more than acceptable. The train ride was fantastic. I know some people had said it was boring but for us it was a leisurely 2 hour ride up and back with much to see and Mark, our coach master, kept it from being boring. He was always either pointing out something, telling us a story or coming around talking to everyone. The musicians who came thru the coach made a great effort to engage the children and were entertaining. The "wild west show" that was held before getting on the train had the benefit of giving the children an opportunity to see the cowboys get "shot" and then a few minutes later get up and take a bow. Later when they "robbed" the train the kids were so excited, honestly I thought my 9 year old granddaughter would jump out of her shoes. There was no fear, they were treated like old friends by all the children, there was nothing but laughter throughout the coach. Yes, you should have $1 bills ready to give them when they "rob" you but it was worth every dollar to see the joy on all the kids faces. I cannot tell you how well done this was from a child's perspective. I highly recommend this. Pure joy for children and adults and a great way to get to Canyon.
