We took the train up and back in the same day and did the Freedom tour with Jim as our guide when we were at the Canyon. I came with my 70+ year old parents and my husband. My mom has mobility issues and the train and tour were fantastic! On the way up, we selected First Class seats, with Nancy as our hostess for our car. She was very friendly and helpful. The food was donuts and pastries, some fruit, and coffee, tea, soft drinks, juice. The trip up was easy and seats were relatively comfortable. We had a singer that came thru the cabin and Nancy shared some content on the area. Our Freedom tour guide was Jim. He was FANTASTIC!! He was very knowledgeable and had great cadence. He also made sure we all had great family photos! His tour was the highlight of the trip! On the way back, we rode in the Luxury Parlor Car, the very last car of the train. It was very comfortable! The trip included a complimentary glass of champagne, and snacks. Snacks were some meat and cheeses, crackers, celery, carrots, olives, cherry tomatoes, and ranch dressing. There was also some trail mix and pickles, also some hard boiled eggs. Later they brought out some petit fours and brownies. It was a decent spread. Our car hostess was Terrel. She was very friendly and accommodating. We had more singers and there was a “train robbery”. We had a nice trip and would do it again!

We booked coach class tickets for the five of us on the trip. The seats weren't too bad and we were grateful for the air conditioning. The ride isn't horribly scenic on the way, but some interesting things to see at times. On the way back, we were "robbed" by bandits on horseback. My kids were actually falling for it initially. My son put his headphones away! It was a good time to see the characters work their way through the train "robbing" people. I've never driven to the Grand Canyon, but it sure was nice to just be dropped off right there and not deal with traffic or parking. There is quite a climb from where you get dropped off, but if you take your time, it's not too bad.

It was a lot of fun for our family to participate. We went there for my birthday this was a gift for my wife. We enjoyed the whole trip and all the actors and the people that made a difference.
