I love trains and train rides. This one is OK. I understand why they have constant people wandering around trying to entertain, it's to divert you from the ride. Our dude was stuck between two cars so at least we didn't have to hear him droning on for too long. There is very little to see, the hills around are not scenic, the topography doesn't change much until you get to the canyon which you don't see from the train and for much of the ride you are in forest. The trip is long and the stay at the canyon is short. My wife and I ended up staying in Williams a second night and driving back to the Grand Canyon because wow it is the star of the show. We went early and stayed until after sunset out on Hopi Point. In my opinion, save your money, drive up before the train gets there and stay until after the train and tour busses leave. Then, enjoy the canyon experience.

We did the luxury dome carriage on the train and it did not disappoint. What a fantastic experience. I won’t ruin a few surprises but there was some great entertainment on the train!

We boarded the train at Williams for the day trip to the Grand Canyon. The journey was quite slow but this gave everyone chance to enjoy the views. The staff were friendly and our passenger assistant Mary Ellen was great. The Grand Canyon was amazing and breathtaking , we took so many photos!
