We thought long and hard about which tour to take. We had only one day in the Canyon so it had to be good. It was. Cameras at the ready we were set for a full day in the Canyon. Richard was an expert guide combining his knowledge with wit, patience and friendliness. This trip was more than just a sightseeing tour and we ended the day with far more knowledge of the Grand Canyon than we could have imagined. On board were drinks and snacks. There were sheets of info on the wild life, the geology of the region and botany all carefully written and presented in an informal gathering on the edge of the South Rim. Stops were taken at all the best places and we wandered together listening to Richard who told us tales of a life times experience in the Canyon. Lunch was taken in an Indian Restaurant and we left suitably replenished and well fed. The journey went on into the Painted Destert, stopping to wonder in awe at the emptiness of the place and the vast skies above us. Returning to our Hotel we were rewarded with the sight of a large Elk wandering at will through the sun dappled forest. As Richard turned the van around for a better view of the animal, cameras clicked and some amateur stalking went on! Truly a day to remember and a highlight of our drive along Route 66.

Our family of five took the half-day ā€œsunset tourā€ with Dora Thayer and enjoyed it immensely. She was very well organized and informative. She did a great job of engaging both our 9 year old granddaughter and 16 year old grandson in her presentation of the geology of the Grand Canyon. Sitting in our comfortable chairs on the rim of the canyon and handling samples of the various rocks was a great learning experience for us all. We highly recommend Canyon Dave tours!

Did full day tour of Grand Canyon, Navajo Reservation & Painted Desert with my family (husband + 3 boys). The younger boys (6 & 8) got a bit antsy as it was a lot of driving/stopping/driving but the rest of us learned so much about the geology of the canyon, the forest, the Navajo culture. After the trip, the little guys actually said they enjoyed it and loved Brittain, our tour guide! We would never have gotten as much out of our trip had we tried to do the canyon on our own - the kids are too little for any meaningful hiking at this point. Tour guide very personable, knowledgeable and passionate about geology. If I could do it again, and could afford it, I would do a private tour vs. going with other groups as the van was full and people had varying levels of interest. Found out about this tour through Grand Canyon Concierge.
