This is a superb introduction to the Grand Canyon, Painted Desert and other sites in the area. Our tour guide Rich was very knowledgeable about the sights, history and especially the geology of the desert southwest. I can now say I understand and better appreciate some of the most amazing and spectacular natural wonders in this country. This was our first visit to the area and it is definitely the best way to spend a day there.

Canyon Dave tours are brilliant. I went with 5 other family members ( ageing from 56 to 16) we all really enjoyed the four hour tour with Canyon Daves brother, Richard Thayer. He has incredible knowledge and experience of the Grand Canyon. While driving to locations and at different locations he tells you a vast amount of facts about the Grand Canyon. But as well as his knowledge being excellent, he as a person is very polite, kind and goes more than the extra mile to help you and make your experience of the Grand Canyon informative and enjoyable! Richard keeps the Vehicle we used (10 seat van) very clean, air conditioned and his driving is very safe and perfect for doing tours around the Grand Canyon. Also within the vehicle was food and drink, allowing you to enjoy a nice lunch, while also being surrounded by breathtaking scenery! One brilliant part of the trip was when Richard took my family and I to chairs he had laid out for us before the trip even began, at the edge of the grand canyon and explained how it was formed with the use examples showing the different types of layers of rock within the grand canyon and the vast amount of years it took to form the Grand Canyon to the wonderful state it is in today. Richard did other very interesting things with us such as showing us which berry's you can eat, or different types of plants that you can use to create important items ( such as a Yucca plant that you can use to create very strong string!) Also while driving along between locations, Richard will tell you not only vast amounts of very interesting information both about the grand canyon and himself but also if there is any animals roaming the lands within eye sight he will stop and allow you to take pictures and tell you what the animal is and his experiences with them! Overall, Canyon Dave Tours is brilliant. Richard is a very nice and kind man with vast amounts of information to tell you about the Grand Canyon. He catered to the needs of the people on the tour brilliantly with food and drink, along with air conditioning and brilliant information. I highly recommend doing this tour with Canyon Dave Tours, you will have a brilliant time!

Our tour was excellent, we had a great day and got to know people from around the world and the U.S. tour guide Richard Thayer made it especially interesting. Mid-way through our day long tour Richard set up some chairs over looking the Canyon and gave the group a very interesting class on rock formations pertaining to the Canyon. Richards knowledge of the Canyon and Navajo Indian culture made for a great tour and was the high light of our visit activities. An added bonus was Richards great personality and professionalism, he had the whole tour group talking and making us feel like a group of old friends, the lunch at the Navajo Indian Post was great and delicious (order the indian taco). We highly recommend Canyon Dave Tours and please ask for Richard as your guide.!
