Grand Canyon West
Enjoy a day away from the hustle and bustle of Las Vegas and head to the Grand Canyon's west rim - home to the world-famous Skywalk. Your tour begins with a brief stop at the Hoover Dam for a photo opportunity and amazing view of the Dam and Bypass Bridge. After a relaxing bus ride through the 900 year old Joshua Tree forest, you will arrive at the West Rim of the Grand Canyon. Once here, you will receive a ticket for lunch and your shuttle ticket which will allow you to move about the canyon very easily. You will have approximately three (3) hours to explore here on your own.

Grand Canyon Skywalk
Your first stop will be Eagle Point. Here, you can step out onto the glass skywalk, a U-shaped glass deck that extends 70 feet beyond the rim of the Canyon giving you a full view of the 4,000 foot drop to the Colorado River below. The views from here are nothing short of spectacular and be sure to spot the eagle in the facing rock. Also at Eagle Point is a Native American Village which displays many tribal homes and depicts the lifestyle of the local natives and you can watch cultural activities such as performances by Indian dances in the amphitheater. This is an optional upgrade that you can select upon checkout.

This trip is so-so in terms of Canyon experience (North and South rims are better canyon experiences in my point of view). However, this location is closer to Las Vegas, so if time is tight, this is an OK/good solution, IF you are OK with minor construction/signs/equipment just about everywhere (roads, facilities, walkways, etc). In addition, all the road construction has speed limit changes everywhere and many visitors pulled over for minor speeding (a good revenue generator?). As for the tour operator, all good except the VAN we where in. Similar to a small airport rental car shuttle, and at highway speeds the front half could not hear a thing their seat mates where saying, nor what the driver was saying - and he using a mic. It was like crushing ice with your blender preparing cold margs - lasting 3 hours each way. Ouch!

Our tour guide's name was Dwayne, and he was amazing!! He offered bits of information and experience, much of it only known to locals. As far as the food, I traveled with my two 20-yr old nieces (twins) -- one of which has to eat glucose-free food and one that is a Vegan. They had food that accommodated both of them, in addition to me who eats anything!!! At the Grand Canyon ranch, have the ribs. They are great!!! Also the Indian people are very friendly. My only complaint is three hours passed way too fast!! Another reason Dwayne was so great is, on the way back to Las Vegas, about 40 minutes out from the Grand Canyon, our tour bus blew a radiator hose. Dwayne did his best to keep everyone comfortable until the relief bus came. He told jokes, he offered water -- he even tried to fix the busted hose himself!! You could tell he just felt so bad!! But eventually everyone was delivered back to Las Vegas, safe and sound, with a really interesting story to tell. How many people can say they were stranded in the Mojave Desert?? Also, whatever you hear about the west rim not being as beautiful as the south rim -- it may be so; but for those of us who didn't have the time or had never been to the south rim, this tour was breathtaking. I would wholeheartedly recommend this tour!! It's absolutely beautiful!! One more thing: If you have any concerns or questions about your tour, speak with Linda in customer service. She definitely knows what she is doing, and you can tell she truly loves her job!!

We took a tour of the Grand Canyon West Rim, which included a stop at The Hoover Dam and endless entertainment from our driver, Jackie! You can't beat the price for an entire days guided tour with breakfast and lunch included, plenty of pit-stops for bathroom breaks, and tons of time to roam around at the canyon. We ended up doing the sky walk as well, which was another instance of time and money well spent. The ride to and from was comfortable and clean, the views were amazing, and the videos (along with Jackie's knowledge) made everything we saw and do come to life. 5/5 would absolutely recommend!
