I recently bought tickets to the food tour to celebrate a friend's birthday. I'd never done a food tour before, but I thought I'd give it a try because my friend and I both have a real appreciation of food. It was rainy the day we went so I wondered if we'd really have a good time. As it turns out, we had a great time!! Even in the rain, Akila made the experience very special and memorable. I really loved how not only did she give us good info on the food but her explanations and stories behind the history of the different neighbors we walked through was amazing. That's what made it so enjoyable - and the food didn't hurt either! I definitely recommend this to both visitors and Atlanta residents! You won't be disappointed - especially with the shrimp & grits

The Atlanta Food Walk tour with Akila was an absolute pleasure. The weather was perfect, and the pace was leisurly. Akila put great thought into making the food choices, location choices and Civil Rights History cohesive and relevent to the areas in which we were walking. She also graciously accomodated the non-meat eaters in our group. As this was a 3 hour tour, with 7 tasting stops, I would not recommend this for young children, but the 6 adults in our group all agreed it was a not to be missed experience. We were fortunate enough to run into Andrew Young during our stop at Paschal's! Make sure to wear comfortable walking shoes and be prepared to eat every bite. We actually enjoyed one of the tastings so much that our group, plus 4 more, returned the next day to the Smoke Ring for lunch.

My husband and I absolutely loved the Atlanta Food Walk! Our guide, Akila, was so energetic and fun, and we learned so much about the history and food cultures of the South. Not to mention incredible soul food from Paschals, wonderful Southern BBQ from Smoke Ring, and the best shrimp and grits we'd ever had from Sweet Auburn Seafood! This was one of the most enjoyable experiences we have had; we HIGHLY recommend the tour!!
