Thanks to Akila on her food tour, I was able to explore a bit of Downtown on my short trip to Atlanta. Not only did I get to see Downtown, but of course, try delicious southern food (grits! cornbread! fried chicken! and more!) all while learning about the history of food and the Civil Rights Movement. Akila was informative, had great stories, and was super knowledgeable about the history of Atlanta and the food.

Amazing walking tour of Atlanta, a bit of the history as well as food. Akila is very interesting and knowledgeable of the city of Atlanta, made it interesting for sure. Rained on us a bit but it didn't even matter we all still had a great time.

It's often hard to get a true sense of Atlanta. With all the hustle and bustle and the rising of falling of institutions, often our history is buried and hidden. Akila wipes away the distractions and shares the personality of Atlanta with you on a neighborhood level, which is where it really exists. I loved the tour and learned so much. I walked in places I would never have walked. I had some of the BEST shrimp and grits eh-va! I'm still dreaming of that cheesy kale. I fell in love with Miss D! I actually saw people around Atlanta in different neighborhoods, as opposed to just driving past them and never breathing in the feel. This is a must for any resident who truly wants to get to know their hometown. Visitors would be wise to start their adventure in Atlanta here with Atlanta Food Walks. It will set your eyes to see the rest of your trip in a different light.
