Greenwich Village Haunted Tour

Overview
Haunted Manhattan offers the most accurate—and FUN—ghost tours in the city!

On our Greenwich Village tour, a secret underworld of ghosts and ghouls reveals itself as you’re guided through the streets by "noted professor of anthropology & the supernatural," The Professor.

The Professor will guide you to 13 haunted locations, from Washington Square Park, a former potter's field and now the beating heart of the Village that seems to host multiple famous spirits (including a ghost dog!), to the former home of Mark Twain that may also hold malevolent spirits, telling you tales of haunted dorm buildings, churches, fire houses, theaters, and more along the way...

A historical, hilarious, and completely hair-raising experience, Haunted Manhattan will show you the greatest city there is, like you’ve never seen it before.

Several friends and I took the Greenwich Village tour this past weekend with Professor Mortimer. (The Pride Weekend revelry added a bit of unique ambiance!). It was a gas. We're all NYC residents with an interest in local history, and the Professor was able to add fascinating color and detail to places and events that we had superficial familiarity with (Washington Square Park, the "House of Death", etc.) Think Bowery Boys with a few jump scares :-) I'm looking forward to taking the East Village tour!

"The Professor" enjoyed your "class" immensely—given that Haunted Manhattan is "where horror and history meet," it was fun to have a group of folks so into local history, along with all the creepy stuff, too. We look forward to having you on ALL the other tours, join us again soon!

This was such a fun way to experience the city (and I've lived here for 18 years). Our guide, Rob, was fun and funny and the evening was the perfect mix of silly and genuinely spooky. I would absolutely recommend it for travelers getting to know the city and locals who want to learn more about the Washington Square Park Area or just see it through a new set of eyes. I feel like Im going to be recounting true scary stories to whoever is around me the next time Im in the area.

while the tour is advertised as "haunted" and we do get to hear scary stories about the various ghosts that perhaps inhabit buildings around Washington Square Park, the best part of the tour for me was the actual history that inspires the ghost stories. some of this history is more than 300 years old !!! our "professorial" guide (himself perhaps a rather vivid spectral being) is well-informed, congenial, and makes a personal connection with each person individually in the tour. the suggestions for a good pub afterwards were appreciated and I've been thinking about what I learned over the week that has transpired since this fun event (follow-up, in response to the questions below, there was no gear or equipment to sanitize unless people are NOT sanitizing their own disposable masks)

We do like to say our tour is where "horror and history" meet, so we're always excited to have someone who enjoys the stories behind the ghosts as much as we do! Thanks so much for coming, and for the kind words about Professor Mortimer!
