Overview

Join us for “Griffins, Goblets, and Gold,” an interactive ‘Magical Arts’ tour in the Metropolitan Museum inspired by a well-loved book series about magic and wizards. See spaces and places that might remind you of those in the books, from part of an actual castle to mythical creatures that resemble those in the story. You’ll participate in activities, explore the museum from a wizard’s perspective… and maybe even do a little magic. (Appropriate interactive wizards gear is encouraged.) Advance reservations required. Please allow two hours for your tour.

Please note: There are no objects or replicas of objects from the movies in the Metropolitan Museum.

What To Expect

The Metropolitan Museum of Art

This interactive tour will last approximately two hours; you’re welcome to stay in the museum after the tour ends. We suggest that you wear sneakers or comfortable walking shoes--and brush up on your wizarding knowledge! Wizarding gear is always welcome, but wands must be small enough to stow away in a bag.

For a full refund, cancel at least 24 hours before the scheduled departure time.

Thanks to her godmother my 6 year old is a HUGE Harry Potter fan. I worried that she might be young for the tour but she had a blast and Evan, our guide made her feel completely comfortable and important. The tour was filled with information and activities that kept both my child and the adults on the tour fully engaged. It was the perfect way to spend a chilly morning and introduce my daughter to The Met. I look forward to doing the tour again with some of my friends

Evan made the Met completely accessible and engaging for a 9 year old Harry Potter enthusiast, and I absolutely loved it too! The tour was interactive (which let's be honest the Met is fascinating but not interactive really) and interesting. Evan was so knowledgeable that any questions, both about the tour or the museum, were answered. When we showed any interest in something not "on tour" Evan took the time to explain. LOVED IT ALL!

We brought our 7-year-old for this tour, it was amazing. Everyone was very patient and friendly to the kid. It enlighten her imagination and interest, brings the joy of a wonderful story and reminds all of us to importance of paying attention to details in the books. Personal, i do not think we read enough so i picked up book 1 of Harry Potter again. Just a side note, if you have not read all the books and familiar with movies, it is a bit hard to follow all of them. But overall, it was great experience. When i am done reading them again, we will be back.
