During our stay on Orcas Island, Washington, we decided to go whale watching. We decided to go with Orcas Island Eclipse Charters. Best decision. The boat was large, 56', seating inside, snack bar, and plenty of room to be outside on top and around the sides. The captain was very friendly, as were the two naturalists on board who knew the answers to all our questions. We saw, sea lions, seals, eagles, a minke whale and then a pod of transient orca whales in Eastsound. It was a fabulous trip, they don't guarantee whales every trip, but they try their hardest to find them, and we got very very lucky. We will go again next year!!!!!!

Great experience! Captain was informative, helpful in spotting the whales. Also gave us great tips on where to eat in Anacortes. Crew was knowledgable about whale pods in the area. They also pointed out eagles and many other sights along the way. The boat was very comfortable equipped with everything needed including binoculars - very relaxed atmosphere. The day we went out the whales had traveled north requiring a long trip to view the whales but they did everything possible to make our trip a success. The whole experience makes you want to do everything possible to save our natural habitats and ocean treasures! Prior to our trip I had contacted Eclipse to get information about the excursion and the travel time regarding ferries/driving. They returned my call quickly answering any questions and gave needed contact information. I highly recommend Eclipse Charters.

Dan the captain was simply terrific. His boat was big enough so passengers could walk around but not get seasick. He also had two naturalists aboard, Mary and Kathy, who were very knowledgeable about all the sealife, birds and island history. Captain Dan doesn't fill up his boat with too many passengers so we never felt too crowded. He took a side trip and stopped the boat on the way back from seeing several whales to watch a local fishing boat reel in its catch, while explaining what the fisherman were doing and how the whole thing worked.
