There are a few things that make this tour unique. One is that our guides are born and raised in the Black Hills. They know the area personally. We also are specially trained to help each guest connect with nature while having fun. We feel this is an incredibly important part of the experience. You'll learn about the area and maybe even about yourself!

Mom & Daughter day out with our guide Parry from Black Hills Recreational Therapy was a success! We wanted to go paddleboarding and hiking but Parry knew better than to put us on paddleboards when it was May in South Dakota and the water wasn't warm enough yet (in case we fell in!). He suggested kayaks instead. He also suggested we go hiking 1st and kayaking 2nd to keep us comfortable and dry for the hike. It was such a beautiful day and Parry led the way to fun forts for photo ops. We even got to bring our dog. Later in the season I signed up for their SUP Yoga Sunday where it was my first time on a paddleboard. The guides were very supportive and helpful and I was able to stand up, balance and paddle and even did some yoga. I was surprised by how comfortable and welcome I felt for my first time with a group who could stand on their heads on a board on the lake! It was just what I needed. I will definitely be going again and might even get my own board!

Wow! I’m blown away! My family of 4 went on this tour! I wanted to do something fun with my kids before summer was over. My boys are 6 and 4 and I wasn’t sure how this would work out but it was perfect! Our guide, Jonathan, was so kind and patient and even took my little one on his board while my husband took my 6 yr old so that I could figure out the balance and paddling on my own board (I’m a novice when it comes to anything like this and was kind of scared to have an extra passenger!) We had so much fun, the kids are begging to go again!

We LOVED every aspect of our tour. I felt compelled to write a review, something I usually don’t do when I saw another review with concerns. I had the exact opposite experience and wanted to share that. Perhaps some people just can’t be please, or maybe it was a legitimate issue and the company has fixed it, and that is important to share! I booked this tour for a day during a family reunion in the Black Hills. In total we had 11 people in our group. We were so pleased with every aspect. They showed up on early and had everything ready to go by the time we arrived, it was incredibly nice to be able to just get in the water and start after a review of safety protocols. I have toured with other companies in the past and we have had to wait for setup in the heat. So this was a very nice surprise! Due to the size of our tour the owner assigned another guide to our group. Both guides did a fantastic job of making sure everyone felt comfortable with the equipment before venturing out on to the lake. They gave some time for our inexperienced group members to get aquatinted and try it out before guiding us out. Throughout the entire adventure we all felt safe and cared for, they were really fun, had great personalities and really helped us to feel like we were among friends. I would not hesitate to hire this company again! If you’re looking for a great experience in nature these are your people, they know it and love it well!
