What To Expect

The Gypsy Gold Farm

our first forty five minutes is an educational journey conducted by Dennis Thompson, the discoverer and founder of the Gypsy Vanner Horse breed. Dennis and Erin will then introduce you to a Gypsy Vanner stallion and explain the envisioned look and details unique to the Vanner breed. Your second hour is a walk among horse filled paddocks lined with ancient oaks laden with the romantic Spanish moss of the south. On your walk you will meet beautiful stallions and mares and friendly Gypsy Vanner Horse babies. Your Gypsy Gold Farm Tour ends with a picture opportunity with an incredible Gypsy Vanner Horse stallion and a visit to the Gypsy Gold gift shop.

What a beautiful farm! What a beautiful breed! Hopefully, the end of COVID will bring more demonstrations and exhibits of the historical journey of Gypsy Vanner. Walking tour was pleasant view of the horses, mules and goats. (Remember to put on bug repellent during summer!). Dennis and Chris are very affable and impart a lot of knowledge and exude “animal love” ! ❤️ I would have liked to see one of the horses being exercised, ridden or pulling a carriage - just to see more of this breed’s musculature and movement they are famous for!

Thanks for your nice review and suggestions. It seems life is one challenge after another. In 2008 we had a 1904 Authentic bow top Gypsy caravan and a collection of authentic Gypsy carts but we had to sell them to another Vanner farm, who's name we are happy to share with anyone. The covid has us adjusting again but we will adjust and survive. We hope you will return to experience the post covid Gypsy Gold. Warm Regards, Dennis and Erin

Gypsy Gold horse farm was an entertaining and informative way to spend about three hours. If you enjoy being around horses, this is the place to go. In addition to the beautiful Gypsy Gold horses, there are mules, donkeys and parrots to keep you entertained. There is also a one hour presentation by the owner of the farm that thoroughly explains the history of this breed. There were approximately 20 of these black and white beauties that willingly come to you for petting and a few kind words.

What a great time we had here. Dennis, the owner was very knowledgeable and informative about the Gypsy Vanner breed, many other types of animals and life in general. He has led an interesting life. This man has wisdom he’d like to pass on and is taking steps to make it so. We loved the visit and look forward to visiting again to see his vision for the future come to fruition.
