What To Expect

The Gypsy Gold Farm

our first forty five minutes is an educational journey conducted by Dennis Thompson, the discoverer and founder of the Gypsy Vanner Horse breed. Dennis and Erin will then introduce you to a Gypsy Vanner stallion and explain the envisioned look and details unique to the Vanner breed. Your second hour is a walk among horse filled paddocks lined with ancient oaks laden with the romantic Spanish moss of the south. On your walk you will meet beautiful stallions and mares and friendly Gypsy Vanner Horse babies. Your Gypsy Gold Farm Tour ends with a picture opportunity with an incredible Gypsy Vanner Horse stallion and a visit to the Gypsy Gold gift shop.

The story behinds the Thompson inspired us all. What a fascinating story. My best friend recently visited from Denmark. We had a girlfriends getaway trip to Dunnellon and found out that Ocala where it is not too far away, is the “horse capital of the world”. We decided to look for a tour or a visit at one of the horse ranch in Ocala. There are quite many of them but Gypsy Gold was one of the top reviews. We then surely realized that we made the right decision to visit Gypsy Gold. You won’t be disappointed but finding a fascinating and wonderful story about these animal lovers who had introduced Cushti Bok to be recognized as one of the 20% top Gypsy’s horse breed to the USA. Also, be sure to say hi to these lovely animals in The Thompson’s ranch.

Dear Elisam, thanks so much for your great review. Not sure I knew your friend was from Denmark. One of the most frightening cities I have ever driven in and one of the most romantic was Copenhagen. Cindy and I walked through Tivoli at night and it was magical. The driving was a nightmare because of the bicycles. yikes ! My daughter, granddaughter, husband and I really enjoyed our visit! Lots of interesting information was imparted! The Vanner horses are so beautiful along with the mules, goats and Macaw’s. Had a great time!

Having been in love with Gypsy Vanners for many years it was a no brainer when I ran across this tour while browsing Trip Advisor. Despite Ocala being the "Horse Capital of the World", it is very difficult to find places that let you get a hands on experience with a horse. At Gypsy Gold you can bring treats to feed the horses, pet them, take pictures, and get a wealth of information about the origins of the breed and how they came to live in Ocala. These sweet and gentle animals are beautiful beyond description and I highly recommend this tour.
