Hale Hoaloha Luau at the Mauna Lani

Overview
The luau is held at the beautiful Mauna Lani, Auberge Resort at Kalāhuipuaʻa, which is a historical area where ancient Hawaiians mastered the art of aquaculture and where King Kamehameha came to recuperate and work in the fishponds.

Guests are welcomed with a traditional Oli (chant) in preparation for preliminary activities with the cast. After the activities, watch as the pig is taken out of the traditional imu pit before it is prepared for the Hawaiian buffet.

The program is capped off by a performance of traditional and modern Hula dances, along with the spectacular Samoan Siva Afi (fire knife dance).

Hale Hoaloha Luau at the Mauna Lani
The Hale Hoaloha Lūʻau is a celebration of the beauty and stories of the land area known as Kalāhuipuaʻa. Considered the “piko” (center) of the majestic mountains of Haleakalā, Kohala, Mauna Kea, Mauna Loa and Hualālai, the Mauna Lani is a special place to all who have the privilege of enjoying its beauty. Traditionally, lūʻaus are important family celebrations with a feast of favorite foods, sharing of moʻolelo (story telling), mele (music) and hula. Hale Hoaloha Lūʻau brings together all of these while sharing Mauna Laniʻs majestic history and the true essence of aloha, ʻohana (family) and kuleana (responsibility) with everyone in attendance.

Great event for families. Attended with family of 4 (two teenage daughters). Venue is nice. It's isolated from the hotel, which was good. Food was great and had a wide variety of options. Performance was very well done, singers had good voices, performers were great (especially the fire twirler guy!). Tables held 8 people, so you will sit with strangers, which was fine. They had the right amount of attendee involvement (mainly focused on kids). The only thing that surprised me was that I had to pay for drinks separately. They provided a small non-alcoholic drink when you arrive, but if you want another drink then you had to pay for it.

We had a wonderful evening of delicious food and wonderful entertainment at the luau. Beautiful open outdoors setting, lots of space to move about. Food was plentiful and delicious! Would definitely recommend!

I’m sure the show was wonderful but we cancelled the trip with plenty of notice and were invoiced for it anyway. Tripadvisor is impossible to get in contact with and I don’t know how to get help.
