Kula
Maui’s rich farming and ranching history is still evident by the vast pastures that line the side of the mountain. Kula’s cool weather and rich volcanic soil make the area an ideal spot for a number of Lavender, Protea, and Macadamia Nut farms.
3
Makawao
The Hawaiian Cowboys or Paniolos have roots set deep in the town of Makawao. This small town still has hitching rails at storefronts just as the locals once used to tie up their horses.
4
Paia
Today Pa’ia is a popular surf destination, however, Pa’ia’s history is as intriguing as it is fascinating. Learn about how the Sugar Plantations shaped this town and the culture of the island, and how this small north shore town was once a gathering place for entertainment and fun.

I would have appreciated to know that I was the only one not doing the bike tour. So I was with a guide tour interesting only by giving tips to the riders... I feel so alone... I paid 150 dollars for going up, late (all the places had had already taken by the others agencies) and go down with just one stop at the kula lodge for breakfast (30 dollars more). That's all! For this price, the others agencies give the breakfast for free. My friend did it with Skyline and he really enjoyed his tour. Not me. Even if the guide was friendly and nice.

We were almost left at the resort at 2am due to an error on the company’s part. They had a different name with our contact information, and initially the driver told us we weren’t going on their tour. We insisted we had a confirmation with their company but he said no, it would be another pickup. Thankfully the driver called our phone number before leaving. After making more stops for pickups, we spent a lot of down time wasted in my opinion. We didn’t do the bike tour but we waited about an hour at the shop for those to get their gear. I will give them credit for providing pants and jackets for the cold, but this process was over an hour. On the ride down in the shuttle the lavender field was closed (not their fault but it was still disappointing) so we stopped for 1 photo, then we were dropped at Paia at 9am to wait for the bikers for an hour and a half. Then a couple on our shuttle back to the hotel got lost and we waited even longer for them. Our guide was very friendly and informative. They made the drawn out day more tolerable, but in my opinion, this was a waste of time and money. I wish we’d been able to get a vehicle pass and go on our own to watch the sunset. It was definitely overpriced and entirely too long for a simple ride up and down. They should do a separate, cheaper trip for people not biking back down.

I usually don’t write bad reviews, but I feel I have to on this occasion. A guide is suppose to make a tour interesting, fun and stress free. Unfortunately our guide Nick did not stop talking for the whole 8 hours. And I mean did not stop. He didn’t come up for air. Personally I didn’t need to hear about his family or religious beliefs. Half way through the tour I had to put on headphones because I couldn’t stand it any more. I could not recommend this tour based on our guide unfortunately.Other members of our family thought the same so it wasn’t just me.
