They picked from our hotel. Tour guide Henry was great. Very informative and funny. Stopped regularly at interesting places and bathroom breaks. Sunset was worth it on the top. Good dinner to end it

We were picked up at 2:25 pm at our hotel for the sunset tour. The bus was on time and the people were super nice, however it took 2 hours to get to a stop where we changed buses to a smaller one. After that it took 1 more hour to simply arrive at the entrance of Haleakala with one stop in a small store for snacks. We then drove up the mountain stopped at the summit and went back half way to see the sunset because the clouds were blocking it. The weather is definitely tely not the fault of the company, but this trip is very badly organized with too long of drives and very little benefit. Also this was a sunset tour and 5 mins before the sunset the driver decided to go a bit down the mountain so we could see the sunset! We could have gone 20 mins earlier, but no, almost almost missed it and she did not let us to leave the bus, only to take picture from the inside of the bus. You are in Hawaii, I would say just enjoy a day in the beach and watch the sunset because it will be 100 times more worth it. What a waste of a day... and don’t forget we had to drive all the way back.

The tour company can't be blamed for the weather and it wasn't the best. On the way up, we were in and out of clouds and rain, so there wasn't much to see. Still, the sunset was beautiful in its own way. Our driver/guide was Ray. He gave us lots of information about the island, but was it bit difficult to understand him at times. The included dinner at Café O Lei after viewing the sunset was very good. A second driver took us back to our hotel after dinner. This tour does NOT take you to the summit, which is at 10,000 feet. The sunset is viewed from the Visitor Center Parking lot area; elevation approximately 9,700 feet. This tour is a bus, carrying about 20-25 people. We prefer small group tours, but not a lot of tour companies offer the sunset tour. Bruce & Jill
