This was a once in a lifetime experience!! Truly inspiring and amazing! I was SOO worried and anxious about it but SO glad I did it. If you are worried or scared be, don't be! Just do it! Bike Maui will make sure you are safe and taken care of the whole time. It is totally worth the early get up time and the cold at the top of the summit!! Which def make sure to bring clothes, hat, warm jacket and wear lots of layers! Also may want to buy the Seaband wristbands and wear those if you get sick with motion because ride up there is windy. I puked actually which I wasn't expecting. They had a puke bag though so all was good! Haha! The ride down is actually quite easy. Way better than expected and awesome views!

This trip was the highlight of our vacation! Kimo was absolutely awesome and set the mood for our trip! He’s funny and witty as can be, all while giving us a wealth of information on the way up to the summit. Definitely request him if you can. He took us to the summit for amazing photo ops. It was incredible being above the clouds!! Then we headed down to the start point we’re he set us out on our own. I was nervous at first, but directions were easy. I think self-guided is the way to go because you set your own pace. I got comfortable pretty quick. The rush going down was like nothing I’ve ever experienced. Even all the teens were smiling ear to ear and absolutely loved the trip!

The view from the summit was incredible. I would equate it with the feeling I got when viewing a full solar eclipse. It's truly unique and inspiring as the sun starts to light up the crater, with the clouds below. The bike ride down was also lots of fun! The tour guide, "Eddie Buddy", was terrific. He was a lot of fun and gave great insight into the island's history and culture. The instruction and preparation of the entire team was excellent. This is no "X Games", macho event. These folks take your safety very very seriously. We greatly enjoyed being able to go at our own pace. If that is your desire, I'd strongly recommend going SELF-GUIDED instead of guided. I would strongly suggest this tour for anyone visiting Maui! ps - if you book thru a 3rd party, just make sure you double check the actual start time of the event. Our third party tickets had the wrong time, although the Bike Maui official reminder email had the correct time (the start time changes during the year based on actual sunset time). pps - It was cold up there. Follow the directions and prepare for high wind and weather in the upper 30s/low 40's at the summit.
