We did the unguided tour (intentionally, not because it was less expensive) because the corny tour guide untrue stories are simply annoying. We’ll go figure we had to go up the mountain for 2 hours (yes 2 hours before you even get on the bike), in a bus with a bunch of guided tour people asking annoying questions. The bike ride itself was fun but I wouldn’t recommend this experience. We left our hotel at 7 am and didn’t get back until after 3pm. Only an hour of that 8 hour experience was spent on a bike.

This was an awesome adventure! Our guide (I forgot his name) was full of interesting stories about Maui and it's history. He gave good, easy to remember instructions for the ride down. The bike ride down was a unique way to experience the beauty of Maui. I would definitely recommend using gloves. At one point my hands got so numb from the cold air that I wasn't really feeling that I was feathering my breaks. Clearly I was because I made it down safely, but it was a strange, uncomfortable sensation. So don't forget your gloves! Otherwise, get ready for an awesome ride!!

So much fun! The tour guide up the mountain (Dan) was funny and very informative. Ours was the self-guided tour and he gave us lots of landmarks (and an excellent map) on the way up so we easily found our way down, plus he was nearby in the van if we needed anything. The summit was beautiful. We didn’t go at sunrise but it was still amazing, not as cold and not as early! The ride down is exhilarating and a little scary but I’m 62 and in OK shape and was able to do it with no issues. The unbelievable views on the way down are not to be missed. My husband said this was his favorite activity on Maui. Do not hesitate to book with these guys, it was wonderful!
