This activity is clearly in the Top 3 activities that we did in Maui, and Maui has some really amazing things to do and visit. It was a complete experience that we enjoyed every minute of. Our guide, Dan, narrated the history, myths, geography and ecology of Haleakala as he drove the group to the sunrise point in a bus. He was well-informed and funny and kept us thoroughly entertained. The instructions for the bike ride were very clearly conveyed, and Dan also suggested some places to stop for breakfast on the way down - all great recommendations. The bike ride itself was a very unique and great experience. You got to experience it! It can get very chilly at the top in the morning so wear layers. You will have a great time if you know how to ride a bike and can abide by some basic rules of the road. :)

The activity was well worth the effort of getting up early- Jerry our guide was a wealth of information, the Maui Bike Company was professional and safe. The experience of seeing the sunrise on top of the volcano and then biking down was once in a lifetime.

This was an amazing tour! We had so much fun. For the sunrise tour we arrived at 3am and got fitted for helmets and picked up a rain jacket and backpack. From there we took a small tour bus up to Haleakala. Eddy, our tour guide, was amazing - very informative and funny! We watched the sunrise from the top of Haleakala and then biked down at our own paced. I recommend the self-guided as you can stop at some small towns on the way down and take your time. They were very serious about safety and went over safety procedures multiple times which was appreciated. Amazing experience!!! Highly recommend.
