I did a five hour half-day fishing trip. My son and I went together. While the boat is large they fill it full of people to the point that you were literally shoulder to shoulder with everyone having a fishing pole hanging off the side of the boat. There is no casting and railing you literally drop weight off the side of the boat and hope that you don’t catch rocks or have the boat drift over your tackle. While some people caught fish most were too small to keep or were used as bait fish for a handful of fishermen that were on our trip with plans to go on a 48 hour overnight trip and were using our time out is there a chance to catch bait fish. The deckhands spent most of the time pulling us off of rocks and taking fish off our hooks that couldn’t be capped. The facilities were acceptable but certainly not worth the price. I purchased a meal plan and the gentleman that ran the Gahley didn’t have enough supplies to actually fulfill the meal plan. Overall very few decent fish were caught and it felt like they were packing us in just to be able to make more money from each trip. However, the captain made it abundantly clear that we were required fundamentally to tip the deckhands and told us all about the customary strategy that we ought to be tipping the deckhands despite the fact that we paid a significant amount of money to go out on a trip where we didn’t catch many fish that we could keep. Overall this was a poor fishing trip and had I known we would be fishing with 70 people I would’ve opted for a smaller charter so that we could move freely around the boat and spend more time on the fish rather than traveling to and from the fishing areas that they were trying to find. I have fished several chargers and recognize that you don’t always get fish but the places that they were taking us to work clearly overfished because there were no sizable fish caught by anyone who did catch fish so this must be the place where they take the five hour trip on a regular basis.Between the cost, the poor fish, literally being shoulder to shoulder with other fishermen to the point that are lines were often getting tangled and that we snagging tackle from the individuals fishing from the opposite side of the boat where our gear would be catching their gear, and the feeling that the only people who are really catching fish for those that have brought their own tackle and we’re casting out away from the boat which are only two or three people, I have to leave a poor review and I absolutely would never recommend this group for your fishing excursion.

We apologize that your experience wasn't awesome, and we are so extremely disappointed to hear about that! However, we would LOVE an opportunity to chat with you when you have a moment and get more info, feedback, and have a chance to go more in depth on what caused the experience to not live up to our guarantee of an excellent client experience with superior guest service. If you are willing and don’t mind, please give our owner, Capt Dylan Hubbard, a shout when you have a moment at (727)393-1947 extension 306. We appreciate your feedback and look forward to chatting because we sincerely want to know more and improve our family owned and operated business every day to provide the most memorable positive and friendly experience possible! Plus, we would love a chance to show you a more average five-star experience with our family’s business!

The captain and first mate were authentic fishermen. They seemed to know what they were doing and helped us catch a ton of fish.... Pete and Scraps were their names....awesome guys. I look forward to another trip with Hubbards! We were on the 5 hour trip. We had a private charter with 11 people of all ages on this trip.
