Half Day Snorkel Trip on Reefs in the Florida Keys

Overview
Come join us snorkeling some of the most beautiful reefs within the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary and Pennekamp State Park. We have many possible reefs to explore: Molasses, Elbow, French Reef and the famous Christ of the Abyss on Dry Rocks. These protected areas offer an opportunity to see turtles, spotted eagle rays, moray eels and a variety of different fish. These special reefs are part of the 3rd largest living reef system in the world and the ONLY living coral reef in the US. We stop at two different locations on the reef. Each stop is determined by the captain based on the day's conditions. We cannot guarantee any specific site.

In an effort to reduce the amount of single-use plastic that ends up in our oceans, we recommend bringing a reusable water bottle. We have water coolers in our shop and on our boats for your convenience!

We were first-time snorkelers, but we had so much fun and wish that we had learned how to snorkel earlier! Due to the seas being calmer there as opposed to some of the other reefs in John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park, the crew took us to 2 locations on Grecian Rocks: A shallower, less than 8 feet deep side, and a deeper, less than 15 feet deep side where we saw lots of species of individual fish, schools of fish, a barracuda, and a shark. The members of the 3-person crew (including the indefatigable first mate, Hadrian, whom snorkelers will interact with the most) were helpful, polite, entertaining, and hilarious, and definitely helped us enjoy our experience even more! The weather was beautiful and waves were between 2-3 feet. Snorkeling with Pirates Cove Watersports was certainly one of the best parts of our weeklong trip to Florida and we would snorkel with them again!

Captains Katie & Cutler are fun, efficient & so helpful for all levels of experience. Clean and comfortable vessel with decent equipment. Locations visited were flush with tropical fish, stingrays, sharks, a few jellyfish and beautiful reefs

We had a great time with Capt John and H. We brought our 3 teenagers, all new to snorkeling, and they did a great job instructing them on what to do and making them feel comfortable. They brought us to 2 spots with plenty to see.
