Half Day Snorkel Trip on Reefs in the Florida Keys

Overview
Come join us snorkeling some of the most beautiful reefs within the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary and Pennekamp State Park. We have many possible reefs to explore: Molasses, Elbow, French Reef and the famous Christ of the Abyss on Dry Rocks. These protected areas offer an opportunity to see turtles, spotted eagle rays, moray eels and a variety of different fish. These special reefs are part of the 3rd largest living reef system in the world and the ONLY living coral reef in the US. We stop at two different locations on the reef. Each stop is determined by the captain based on the day's conditions. We cannot guarantee any specific site.

In an effort to reduce the amount of single-use plastic that ends up in our oceans, we recommend bringing a reusable water bottle. We have water coolers in our shop and on our boats for your convenience!

Trip was great! Captain John and Dive Instructor Natalie were friendly, fun, and informative. We went to two spots on the reef where we saw lots of beautiful sea life and coral, including grouper, jellyfish, needlefish, barracuda and a Caribbean reef shark. A highlight was viewing the wreckage of the underwater movie for the James Bind film ā€œThunderballā€. About 90 minutes snorkeling in total, which was plenty. Highly recommended.

We had an awesome time on our trip. We stopped to snorkel at 2 locations. We saw nurse sharks, a spotted eagle ray, and so many fish in the coral reefs. The water was warm. The crew was awesome and very knowledgeable. The water is beautiful! Definitely recommend and will definitely go out with Pirateā€™s Cove again for snorkeling and other activities. Thank you John and Natalie for our almost private tour!

As a first time snorkeler and long time fearer of the ocean, I was a little nervous to jump in at first, but with First Mate Mike Cutler and Captain Johnā€™s help, I was able to have a good time! We saw tons of fish and coral reefs waving in the water. It was a little cold near the end though so I would definitely recommend bringing a towel and a jacket when it drops below 80.
