Half Day Snorkel Trip on Reefs in the Florida Keys

Overview
Come join us snorkeling some of the most beautiful reefs within the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary and Pennekamp State Park. We have many possible reefs to explore: Molasses, Elbow, French Reef and the famous Christ of the Abyss on Dry Rocks. These protected areas offer an opportunity to see turtles, spotted eagle rays, moray eels and a variety of different fish. These special reefs are part of the 3rd largest living reef system in the world and the ONLY living coral reef in the US. We stop at two different locations on the reef. Each stop is determined by the captain based on the day's conditions. We cannot guarantee any specific site.

In an effort to reduce the amount of single-use plastic that ends up in our oceans, we recommend bringing a reusable water bottle. We have water coolers in our shop and on our boats for your convenience!

I scheduled a snorkel half day cruise. Because of bad Sea conditions a lot of people canceled. So a snorkel half day cruise turned into a boat that had snorkelers and scuba divers on it. I was told by the not so friendly crew woman that because there were more divers than snorkelers we would be going to deeper water. When I expressed concern about being able to see fish on the reefs she said that we would be able to see them just fine 20/30 feet deep. The same woman crewmember told me that because there were more divers than snorkelers, the scuba divers won out where we went on the trip. Consequently we went to deeper waters. The water was very rough which they did warn us about. The boat was not equipped with anything for seasickness. I asked if they had any Gatorade and they said no. I asked if they had any noodles for a couple of people that were struggling in the water and they said no. I spent about 15 minutes in the water trying to help two of the snorkelers that were struggling. At no time did the staff yell out to us to see if we needed help. The boat was probably the worst snorkeling boat Iā€™ve been on in the keys. The only good thing I can say about the entire trip was that we did see beautiful fish. The crew were less than helpful. On any other snorkeling boat when people would come up the ladder to get back in the boat someone would put a hand out to at least help. Not on this boat. I am 68 years old and a certified diver and didnā€™t really need help but common courtesy called for at least the gesture of help. For some unknown reason I left a $10 tip. Iā€™ve been kicking myself ever since. They did not deserve a dime. Next time I will gladly drive 15 more minutes and go out with Sundance water sports in Islamorada.

It was pouring down with rain at the dock, but as soon as we arrived at the first diving spot the weather was beautiful. We saw stingrays, beautiful fish I canā€™t name. The water was crystal clear. A wonderful experience.

Thanks for the review! Luckily we have island weather down here in the Keys so if you don't like the weather just wait a few minutes! We are happy to hear it all worked out and you had a beautiful experience on the reef!
