Half Day Snorkel Trip on Reefs in the Florida Keys

Overview
Come join us snorkeling some of the most beautiful reefs within the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary and Pennekamp State Park. We have many possible reefs to explore: Molasses, Elbow, French Reef and the famous Christ of the Abyss on Dry Rocks. These protected areas offer an opportunity to see turtles, spotted eagle rays, moray eels and a variety of different fish. These special reefs are part of the 3rd largest living reef system in the world and the ONLY living coral reef in the US. We stop at two different locations on the reef. Each stop is determined by the captain based on the day's conditions. We cannot guarantee any specific site.

In an effort to reduce the amount of single-use plastic that ends up in our oceans, we recommend bringing a reusable water bottle. We have water coolers in our shop and on our boats for your convenience!

The crew did a super job with instructions and briefings through out the trip. They were very helpful and courteous. The dive sites were very poor, the coral look dead and there were very few fish .

We appreciate you taking the time to write a review! The crew tries very hard to make sure everyone is well informed and safe on their trip. Unfortunately the reefs are not in great condition due to many reasons (pollution, human interaction, warm temps, etc), but also a lot of times people might mistake living corals for dying corals because we don't have those bright vibrant colors like many see on TV. Our corals, because we have such warm temps here in the Atlantic, have more earth-toned colors to them like green, yellow, orange, and brown with a little bit of purple and blue. The brighter colors are going to be found in the cooler waters of the Pacific. But you are correct that in some areas, the coral is not doing well. Thank you!

Captain Pete and First Mate Gia were very knowledgeable and helpful in the journey to sea. They made sure that everyone was feeling safe and comfortable with the trip before, during and after and helped those who were not feeling so well. My fiance and I would definitely return to Pirate's Cove Watersports for future trips to the Keys.
