Half Day Snorkel Trip on Reefs in the Florida Keys

Overview
Come join us snorkeling some of the most beautiful reefs within the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary and Pennekamp State Park. We have many possible reefs to explore: Molasses, Elbow, French Reef and the famous Christ of the Abyss on Dry Rocks. These protected areas offer an opportunity to see turtles, spotted eagle rays, moray eels and a variety of different fish. These special reefs are part of the 3rd largest living reef system in the world and the ONLY living coral reef in the US. We stop at two different locations on the reef. Each stop is determined by the captain based on the day's conditions. We cannot guarantee any specific site.

In an effort to reduce the amount of single-use plastic that ends up in our oceans, we recommend bringing a reusable water bottle. We have water coolers in our shop and on our boats for your convenience!

I had a disappointing experience. First of all itā€™s not a snorkeling trip, but rather a diving trip. Me and another lady were the only people snorkeling that day and the guides actually looked a bit surprised when I told them because they were apparently not informed about that. When we got to the first diving spot the guide told us that it would be difficult today because the current was really strong (and there were also really big waves). Then they let everyone go into the water. I realized almost immediately that it was impossible to move forward for me because the current was way too strong. I also wasnā€™t able to get back onto the boat on my own (and Iā€™m usually not a weak swimmer), so this was really scary. One lady wasnā€™t able to swim against the current at all and got kinda dragged away, so someone had to get her. They had to pull everyone back onto the boat (with a rope) within 10 mins, many were in shock and some people even cried. The guides just kinda laughed it off and told us itā€™s part of the diving experience, but I personally felt like it was really irresponsible of them to let us go into the water. After this we drove to another spot that was a bit calmer. I saw some nice fish and many corals there, but to be honest it gets boring after maybe 10 mins because by then youā€™ll have seen everything there. I was actually happy when we returned to the resort as I felt sea-sick from the heavy waves as well (which is definitely no oneā€™s fault but dampened my experience even further). Since this trip has only outstanding reviews I expected a lot, but personally cannot recommend it.

We strive to give our guests the best possible experience and some days the ocean does not cooperate with us. Our trips go off shore to the coral reefs and yes sometimes there is ocean currents, that make it a bit challenging. Our Captains try hard to take our guests to the best possible locations for each trip and sometimes it is just impossible to have a perfect site. We are dissapointed that we did not live up to your expections.

Perfect journey snorkeling out to two reef locations! Conditions were perfect, with a visibility of 35ft, calm winds, and I was spellbound by the reef colours, myriads of fish ! Natural sunscreen is provided, not to harm marine life and especially corals. Crew is sharp and entertaining. Highlight of a trip.
