Half Day Snorkel Trip on Reefs in the Florida Keys

Overview

Come join us snorkeling some of the most beautiful reefs within the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary and Pennekamp State Park. We have many possible reefs to explore: Molasses, Elbow, French Reef and the famous Christ of the Abyss on Dry Rocks. These protected areas offer an opportunity to see turtles, spotted eagle rays, moray eels and a variety of different fish. These special reefs are part of the 3rd largest living reef system in the world and the ONLY living coral reef in the US. We stop at two different locations on the reef. Each stop is determined by the captain based on the day's conditions. We cannot guarantee any specific site.

In an effort to reduce the amount of single-use plastic that ends up in our oceans, we recommend bringing a reusable water bottle. We have water coolers in our shop and on our boats for your convenience!

Captain brad and first mate Brandon were AMAZING. They were absolutely hilarious but maintained our safety and answered any and all questions at all times. They provided all gear required, sun screen, and good jokes along the way. The reefs were gorgeous and they told us all the good spots to make sure we checked out. It was definitely a 11/10 experience and would 110% do it again.

When you arrive, be aware that the Dive Shop they're referring to is the Pirate's Cove Shop. You can park almost anywhere nearby so that was really convenient. You go into the shop to check in and the boat will arrive to gather the group. The crew that's on board was really fun, friendly and experienced with lots of stories and jokes. They provide all the snorkeling gear, sunscreen and instructions for beginners. This was my first time snorkeling and I felt well advised, comfortable and safe. The boat ride to the 2 sites was absolutely beautiful! The water is so blue and you can almost see below it. At the first site, I did struggle a little because of the wave current but after some time got to bask at the beauty of the sea world; there's soooo much to see and not enough time lol. Make sure you are well fed and bring all your energy because it was a workout. The 2nd site is where you can see the statue and I think I basked on that the longest, it was definitely worth seeing! Thank you to the crew for the hospitality and for this experience!!

Captain Pete and Hamiam were fantastic, made our trip fun, safe and memorable - what a lot of fish! All equipment was good quality, really clean and well organised so we all got onto the boat really efficiently. With every piece of safety equipment needed on board imaginable, we felt totally safe. We were kept well informed regarding the swell and how to manage that best when in the sea so we got the most enjoyment out of our time in the water. Both were really knowledgeable and we talked through all the fish that we had seen from the tiny to the massive! We visited two parts of the same section of the reef and got to see some amazing fish. Total time in the water was just over an hour which was perfect and the ride too and from the Dock was good fun. All in all, a great trip - thank you!
