Half Day Snorkel Trip on Reefs in the Florida Keys

Overview
Come join us snorkeling some of the most beautiful reefs within the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary and Pennekamp State Park. We have many possible reefs to explore: Molasses, Elbow, French Reef and the famous Christ of the Abyss on Dry Rocks. These protected areas offer an opportunity to see turtles, spotted eagle rays, moray eels and a variety of different fish. These special reefs are part of the 3rd largest living reef system in the world and the ONLY living coral reef in the US. We stop at two different locations on the reef. Each stop is determined by the captain based on the day's conditions. We cannot guarantee any specific site.

In an effort to reduce the amount of single-use plastic that ends up in our oceans, we recommend bringing a reusable water bottle. We have water coolers in our shop and on our boats for your convenience!

We had a great time snorkeling yesterday. The water was electric blue and we saw a nurse shark, sea turtles, and tons and tons of fish. Absolutely gorgeous! Captain Chris and First Mate Brandon did a great job explaining what types of fish and marine life we would see. The boat ride was smooth and there was plenty of room for everyone and their belongings. My only suggestion would be to communicate about how long the boat rides would take and where we were going, since we ended up going to different locations than the ones advertised on site. It was a very fun trip. We would definitely recommend others to snorkel with Pirates Cove Water Sports!

I didnā€™t get to go snorkeling after all, but I really appreciate the way my cancellation was handled. Upon arriving on our vacation, my husband got sick. I pushed out the snorkeling for a few days hoping heā€™d get better. He ended up testing positive for Covid just hours before the trip was set to begin and long past the 24 hour window for cancellation. I didnā€™t ask for or expect a refund at that point but I let Pirateā€™s Cove know we wouldnā€™t be there due to the positive Covid test. Suzi messaged me a short time later to wish my husband well and to let me know sheā€™d issued a refund. That was above and beyond and truly wonderful given that we had to cancel a few tours last minute and had lost considerable money due to this. I really wish weā€™d been able to go on the trip. Especially since the customer service was so excellent!

Staff was great and knowledgeable. Very friendly and helpful with the guests. The snorkeling was amazing. Way better than I anticipated. Highly recommended excursion! They give you plenty of time to look around and explore the reefs. There was only one minor issue. My daughter is petite with a small slender face so we had some issues with water getting in her mask. I suggest maybe carrying smaller masks for smaller people, but again, not a deal breaker.

I am glad you enjoyed the snorkeling and I regret the crew did not give your daughther a smaller mask. We do carry several sizes in mask. Some times certain faces are harder to get the seal around and leaking will accure. We are happy you all still enjoyed your excursion. Hope to see you again. Thanks for letting us know about the mask issue.
