Our tour guide was the owners Son in law -(Matt ) he was a great guide and knowledgeable about racing and the area-I have an extensive knowledge of racing myself but it is Always nice to learn new things of Keeneland and different racehorses-it's enjoyable to go to farms and see horses up close- the time passed quickly and it made for a great time

It can be a good tour, just make sure you clearly understand what tour you're getting as we didn't. Over half of our tour was spent touring Keeneland horse race track, seeing exactly what we would have seen had we gone to the horse race track on our own. Almost all of the rest of the time, we spent driving around hearing about the other horse farms in the area, which was very informative, but again, roads that we could have driven down (and had already driven down) on our own. The last 20 minutes or so was spent at an actual horse farm seeing the horses, petting horses and hearing how an actual horse farm works and touring the barns. So just know in advance, that this is what you're getting and if this is the type of tour you're wanting then book this tour. Our tour guide was informative and the farms beautiful to look at as we drove by. We just really wished we could have actually had much more time touring actual horse farms learning the ins and outs of how a horse farm works and not how Keeneland race track operates- it wasn't even a behind the scenes tour of the horse track. We did hear that every tour is different and sometimes they spend no time at the race track and much more time at the actual horse farms, so I guess we just got unlucky-- or lucky I guess depending on what your interests are and we got a tour that focused on the race track. While we love the race track aspect we could do that on our own time and already knew Keeneland well and that was not the purpose of this excursion.

Although my husband and I live in Lexington and enjoy visiting Keeneland during the racing season, we had never experienced a horse farm tour. After my brother and his wife from Maryland went on the Heritage Thoroughbred Horse Farm Tour, with Daniel as their guide, they were surprised to learn that we hadn't. That prompted my brother to see that we received a gift certificate for the tour. It proved to be a most enlightening and enjoyable experience! We saw Keeneland as we never have before and learned a tremendous amount of history and details about this most beautiful of all race tracks. Then, we were off to see some of the prestigious horse farms in the area. Again, much information was shared, and we had the opportunity to get up close and personal with quite a few of these grand animals. Daniel's presentations were extremely entertaining as well as educational. If you are a resident of the fair city of Lexington, or the surrounding area, this is something you should put on your "staycation" (pun on "vacation") list! It's not just for those who come from far away places. No doubt about it, home folks should take advantage of this opportunity, too!
