We had a wonderful time and the team was very knowledgeable. We liked the smaller boat that got you lower to the water. The whale behavior was spectacular!

Selected Discovery after a little online research and determined their schedule fit ours, and equally important, we liked that they are a fairly new, small, independent operator that runs a relatively small boat. We didn't want one of the fancy-shmancy double-decker "tour" boats for whale watching. The check-in went incredibly smoothly; hot chocolate and coffee, friendly staff. The boat crew was friendly, very knowledgable, and communicative the entire time we were on the water. We got to see several humpbacks diving and surfacing at a handful of locations the crew found, as well as seals, otters and a rare siting of an albatross swooping down near the boat to briefly land on the surface of the ocean. One of the nicest parts of the half-day was that thanks to the enthusiastic but genuinely caring and friendly energy of the crew, we felt very comfortable with our fellow whale watchers; we even have a few new Facebook friends.

Amazing to see so many humpback whales just beyond the bay. We were given lots of facts and figures which was good. Carried on out to find dolphins. Didn’t see blue or orca but that was alright. Loved the colony of sea lions. Take a lot of layers, it was freezing plus sea sickness tablets.
