What's going on? A great start to a Sunday. Neil is a great host. Welcoming, informative, funny and friendly. The tour covers civil rights in the area, a visit to an active Gospel church, music that highlights certain issues covered, sightseeing, crowd participation and we ended up at the famous Apollo. Did I dream it or was I actually on stage where James Brown felt good, felt black and proud, and felt like a sex machine! Worth every penny. An insightful introduction to Harlem from someone a passing friend called the King of Harlem. Thanks Neil

tour of Harlem has been on my bucket list for years and this tour didn't disappoint. I really appreciated hearing the history of Harlem from natives of the area. The service at the Baptist Church was so inspirational, and we also had a chance to step inside the Apollo Theatre. We ended the tour at a legendary Harlem soul food restaurant, and our guide had offered to make us reservations if we wanted to dine after the tour. While crowds of people were waiting for a seat, we walked right in for delicious fried chicken, mac and cheese, and bottomless mimosas - all while being entertained by a solo singer. This was definitely a highlight of my weekend.

What a wonderful experience combining the history and culture and music of Harlem. Neal is such an entertaining and knowledgeable guide. We walked through the streets on an unusually warm winter's evening accompanied by the rich jazz soundtrack from the 20s and onwards. It was exciting to visit the sites of the original Cotton Club and the Savoy Dance Theatre, to see the tributes to the many Harlem legends along the sidewalk and the giant mural of Dizzy Gillespie. We learnt about the history of the Black Power movement on the anniversary of the death of Malcolm X. We also learnt about the affluence and the architecture of the early 20th century. The highlight of the tour was a visit to the Abyssinian Baptist Church for the gospel service. Such wonderful music and preaching and fellowship. I high,y recommend this tour if you want to see the real Harlem.
