Your Apollo Theater Multimedia Walking Tour starts at the Apollo Theater 253 West 125th Street.

Harlem

The Harlem walking tour portion will feature pictures, video and sound presented at sights where history happened, special attention will be paid to music history and Harlem legends launched to stardom from the world famous Apollo Theater stage.

Apollo Theater

You will end with a back-stage tour of Apollo Theater where we will host our very own mock “Amateur Night at the Apollo.” You will have the chance to go on the Apollo Theater stage and perform in the very spot where greats like Michael Jackson, James Brown, Ella Fitzgerald and many others started their careers – lets see if you have what it takes to be an Apollo star!

It was raining Tour guide was 30 to 45 minutes late Tour guide had no visual aides to help with us using our "imagination " We seemed to wonder around Harlem with no distinctive direction. I think smoother transitions to destination could have been conducted. For example he mentioned the cotton club several times. But we didn't see the cotton club that wasn't on the tour. The overview for my booking states " you'll get a chance to stand on the same stage as musical genius such as James brown " I was not provided this opportunity. I did not receive the opportunity to go back stage of the apollo theater. I think this tour needs connect with local businesses such the Thurgood Marshall academy or the theater group I saw on tour.

I usually apologize when a customer complains but this time we feel no reason to apologize. Firstly we issued a full refund to the customer immediately, we could not control the rain and we could not make the Apollo Theater open their doors. We could not bring out our visual aids because of the rain, so therefore a full refund was issued in total to all who booked for this tour, our reviews show that we work hard to please our guests and although we feel that guests are always right, this time we feel that this review is unjustified. It’s mentioned the Cotton Club was not seen, but the original Cotton Club has been torn down. The rest of the group expressed thanks and gratitude and even gave tips. Again with all due respect, this review is not warranted.

I did this tour for university and our guide was absolutely lovely and dynamic. The sights of Harlem are beautiful and learning the history was definitely worthwhile!!
