Soul Food is traditional African American cuisine that originated in the South in the United States. Today it has become a highly sought after cuisine. It consists of spicy ribs, collard greens, fried fish and chicken, freshly cooked corn bread, and a few side dishes like black eye peas, okra, or macaroni and cheese to mention a few.
Guests are invited to take walks through the neighborhoods visited. The average walk is about 15 minutes.
With advance notice, wheelchair bound customers with some mobility can be accommodated in the front rows of the tour bus with their wheelchairs folded away in the luggage compartment. It is mandatory that someone accompany customers with special needs to assist them onto the coach.
For passengers with no mobility or a non foldable wheelchairs we recommend giving at least 3 weeks notice so that we can secure a coach with a wheelchair lift.
Wheelchair lifts are 49" X 28" and can carry a maximum weight limit of 700lbs. We kindly ask that you submit the dimensions and model of the chair as our lift may not be able to accommodate scooters and other large sized electric chairs. A maximum of one person in a wheelchair can be accommodated per bus.
Many of the churches that we visit have steps. In order to accommodate their wheelchair bound congregation members churches use portable mobility ramps.

I wasn't very happy for being told to be there at 8.45am for a 9:00am departure, when the departure was at 9:30am. I'm punctual anyway, and could have used that half hour for some beauty sleep! The tour was great, we did get lost actually, but it added a bit of spice to it. A great guide! Everyone at was very good and so was the church in South Bronx, apparently all 400 Harlem churches were full, It was fantastic! I recommend this to all New York visitors.

We are not sorry we did this tour, but we do not feel able to fully recommend it either. We had a wonderful guide who was passionate about his hometown area. He was informative, interesting and funny. We enjoyed the guided bus tour around the Harlem area with him. It was however the church service which we found dissappointing.We were taken to a small church in the Bronx rather than in Harlem, and the service we attended in no way resembled the advertisements for this tour. There were only about 20 parishioners present with very loud microphones to make it sound like a church full of people and 4/5ths of the congregation were tour participants. It all felt very staged, with lots of opportunities to donate money.
