We arrived having heard amazing things about Frieda's tour of Hasidic Williamsburg, and we were not disappointed! Frieda is one of the best tour guides we have ever encountered. She was able to share her insider knowledge of the Satmar sect with humour and personal insight. She was very good about answering all my questions (and I had a lot). She also allowed us to sample from one of the best bakeries and best kosher restaurants (Gottleib's) I've ever come across! Do not miss your chance at this truly unique and amazing tour!

I had a lovely tour with Frieda around Williamsburg. Her knowledge is unparalleled and her sincerity—about both the strengths and dangers of isolationist practices—allows for a nuanced understanding of Hasidism not solely as a religious movement, but as an ideologically structuring total institution. Frieda was able to address specific interests and questions that I had by bringing me into shops and pointing out particularly minute aspects of Hasidic material culture. And, of course, I highly enjoyed all the tasty foods. This experience takes you into a way of living that seems foreign, but not through criticism or exoticization, and not with the intent of demonizing the Hasidic tradition. I could not recommend this tour more!
