The tour guide is exceptional! Since she herself is a refugee from the Satmar world, she knows where she is coming from and where she is going. From the start of the tour, it was fascinating to see how the young people have used the best of the internet and blocked the rest by the use of Chinese blocking and censorship technology! Their book stores, their grocery stores and even their restaurants are a story of absolute obedience to the faith. Amazing they are able to keep their believers in the fold. On the other hand, the tour guide left and has turned that into a way to make a living for herself. An amazing insight into a world rarely seen. Great tour.

This was the highlight of my New York trip! Our guide Frieda helped us to understand what it would be like to be a part of the wonderful Hasidic commuity. The pastry and food samplings were a memorable part of the tour also. I would highly recommend this walking tour to people of all ages.

I've lived in NYC and Brooklyn almost all my life and have always wanted to know more about the Hasidic community and specifically, Hasidic Williamsburg. This walking tour answered many of my questions and I am encouraged to read more about the community and its people. Freida's intimate knowledge of the community, her charm, and her courageouness in sharing her story as a former member made this event so much deeper than just a walk through a neighborhood. She is a generous spirit. Once I returned home, I called many family and friends, recommending the tour- I've even offered to go again and join anyone who wants to go. One of the best mornings I've spent in my home borough of Brooklyn.
