My daughter and I recently went on Frieda's tour of Williamsburg, Brooklyn and really enjoyed it. We learned so much about the Hasidic community, and Frieda was both knowledgeable and personable. She had so much information about the lives of people in the community and made it all come alive with the personal anecdotes she wove into the afternoon. She was also so open to answering all our questions. We both left feeling like we had spent a really worthwhile and fun afternoon in Brooklyn!

I grew up in the metro area but this was my first time visiting the Satmar section of Williamsburg. My sister took a group of friends on a private tour for her birthday and all of us had a wonderful experience. Frieda's personal story is so interesting-she chatted individually with us at our lunch which followed the tour(Marlowe & Sons rest.). The walking was not too strenuous but participants should wear comfortable shoes and dress appropriately for the weather. I highly recommend Visit Hasidim tours!

As a culture-tourist, I place this tour among my most memorable and unique tourist experiences in NY. For two hours I was transposed into the world of the Hassidim of Williamsburg - located one subway stop outside of Manhattan - and returned with a great experience and understanding to share with others! Frieda the tour guide, raised as a Hasidic woman and proficient in the local Yiddish vernacular, engages the tourists, narrates, translates and demystifies the seemingly closed off life of the insular Hassidim. Above all, Frieda helps you imagine the universal human experience from a Hasidic person’s perspective. I highly recommend this tour and I hope to take it again one day.
