What To Expect

Gettysburg

Your guide will orient you to the area of East Cemetery Hill which is the location of heavy fighting during the Battle of Gettysburg before you enter the National Soldiers Orphanage Homestead. This building was used as the headquarters for General O.O. Howard during the battle and was also use as a hospital during and after the battle. After the end of the Civil War the building was turned into an orphanage for children whose fathers were lost during the American Civil War. That is where our story begins...

This was my 3rd time visiting Gettysburg and I have taken the Orphanage Tour each time. It is always a good tour, but our tour with Mike last night was FANTASTIC. He is a phenomenal storyteller and made our experience extra dark and creepy. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!

I highly recommend the tour of the orphanage. It is quite the experience to be in a building with such history and the tour itself was such a good time. Our tour guide Mike was the best! He is so knowledgeable, personable and funny. Being in such a creepy place was awesome but he really brought the tour to life! He is full of informative history of the orphanage and the key people in the town at the time of the war. I cannot recommend this tour enough and if you can request a tour guide go with Mike!

My wife and I have been coming to Gettysburg for the last 12 years and finally decided to book the orphanage tour. It didn't disappoint. Our guide, Mike, was fantastic. If you do decide to try it out, I would make sure to request him.
