Highlights of Charleston Guided Walking Tour

Overview
Our two hour Highlights of Charleston walking tour guides guests through the historic French Quarter and South of Broad neighborhoods of downtown Charleston. Along the way, your guide will describe the long history, unique culture, architecture, and geography of Charleston and the greater lowcountry area, painting a detailed picture of how Charleston's tumultuous past formed the city now beloved by travelers the world over. You'll view some of the city's oldest houses of worship, burial sites, theaters, the forts of Charleston harbor, and the antebellum mansions that look out across the waters of the Cooper and Ashley rivers, among many other historic and picturesque sites. Our guides also offer their expert advice on other activities, restaurants, and bars for guests to explore once they've finished their tour.

As this was our first visit to Charleston we chose this walking tour to do on our first day in Charleston. We chose this tour based on the reviews here on Tripadvisor. There is a reason that with 1180 reviews 98% gave it a 5 Star rating. Our Guide Palmer, is a charismatic young lady who held our attention the entire tour. There was only 4 of us on the tour so we probably had more interaction then with a larger group. Palmer took us to many of the key points that one would need to see to get a general historical point of reference for Charleston. Her knowledgeable insight to aspects of history, architecture and the life of Charleston's population during the Antebellum period was excellent. If you take just one tour of Charleston THIS IS THE ONE

This tour was the first day of our first visit to Charleston and we couldnā€™t have enjoyed it more! Bill is a trained historian and his knowledge of Charleston was amazing. He also described the places and events in context so it made sense. I have already ordered one of the books he recommended on the history of the city! If you go to Charleston, we highly recommend this tour, and make sure Bill is your guide.
