Highlights of Charleston Guided Walking Tour

Overview
Our two hour Highlights of Charleston walking tour guides guests through the historic French Quarter and South of Broad neighborhoods of downtown Charleston. Along the way, your guide will describe the long history, unique culture, architecture, and geography of Charleston and the greater lowcountry area, painting a detailed picture of how Charleston's tumultuous past formed the city now beloved by travelers the world over. You'll view some of the city's oldest houses of worship, burial sites, theaters, the forts of Charleston harbor, and the antebellum mansions that look out across the waters of the Cooper and Ashley rivers, among many other historic and picturesque sites. Our guides also offer their expert advice on other activities, restaurants, and bars for guests to explore once they've finished their tour.

My husband Geoff and I were the only people on our tour a few days ago, lucky us! We had Bill all to ourselves! He was so knowledgeable and truly passionate about the area. Because we were the only ones on the tour he worked it around our interests, got to know us and then shared things he thought we would like. Being our first time to Charleston we were eager to learn and Bill was happy to share all he could in the 2 hour tour. This sincerely was the highlight of our trip, thanks Bill we thoroughly enjoyed our morning with you, it was our privilege to get to know you.

Will did a fantastic job introducing the group to the history of Charleston. He didnā€™t rattle off dates and point at stuff as we walked by. Instead, in the two hours we had, he did as thorough job as possible truly teaching u s the history albeit difficult to hear at times.

Bill was our tour guide. His knowledge of the history of the area was encyclopedic, and his ability to draw comparisons with other periods in world history was great. I learned a lot and have a much better grasp of Charlestonā€™s place in history. His (admitted and unabashed) left leaning political opinions were ā€œliberallyā€ expressed throughout the presentation, so people who have a problem with this may want to try a different tour service, but I suspect they would be shortchanged.
