Highlights of Charleston Guided Walking Tour

Overview
Our two hour Highlights of Charleston walking tour guides guests through the historic French Quarter and South of Broad neighborhoods of downtown Charleston. Along the way, your guide will describe the long history, unique culture, architecture, and geography of Charleston and the greater lowcountry area, painting a detailed picture of how Charleston's tumultuous past formed the city now beloved by travelers the world over. You'll view some of the city's oldest houses of worship, burial sites, theaters, the forts of Charleston harbor, and the antebellum mansions that look out across the waters of the Cooper and Ashley rivers, among many other historic and picturesque sites. Our guides also offer their expert advice on other activities, restaurants, and bars for guests to explore once they've finished their tour.

Our tour guide Palmer was excellent, very knowledgeable, and entertaining. We covered the history of Charleston from the founding of the city, to the antebellum period and through post civil war. The walking was easy and it was a great way to get a lay of the land and appreciation of the city as we started our vacation.

My 24 year old daughter and I were on a mother-daughter trip & I chose this for us to do as one of the "touristy" to do and SO GLAD I DID! Bill was our tour guide for the 3pm which was his last tour of the day, he apologized in advance if he wasn't not giving us his all. I'm scared to think what he's like at full steam :-) It was the most impactful two hours and not your run of the mill tour. Bill is an amazing wealth of knowlege, interactive and out of the box tour guide. The places we went and in that period of time covered from early 1700s to current local economy. We're still talking about it. Right up our alley and we would recommend this tour to everyone!

If you haven't done Bill Harris' walking tour of Charleston, you haven't seen nor understand the historical significance of Charleston! Bill took my group on a journey of Charleston, incorporating it's beauty, culture, diversity as well as it's fascinating and turbulent history. His extensive knowledge and grasp of historical events and their impact on our present society and culture truly had an immense impact on how I now view our American history and our founders. Bill imparts his knowledge with passion, humor and great intelligence. Don't miss his tour on your trip to Charleston!
