Highlights of Charleston Guided Walking Tour

Overview
Our two hour Highlights of Charleston walking tour guides guests through the historic French Quarter and South of Broad neighborhoods of downtown Charleston. Along the way, your guide will describe the long history, unique culture, architecture, and geography of Charleston and the greater lowcountry area, painting a detailed picture of how Charleston's tumultuous past formed the city now beloved by travelers the world over. You'll view some of the city's oldest houses of worship, burial sites, theaters, the forts of Charleston harbor, and the antebellum mansions that look out across the waters of the Cooper and Ashley rivers, among many other historic and picturesque sites. Our guides also offer their expert advice on other activities, restaurants, and bars for guests to explore once they've finished their tour.

Bill took us on a 2 hours tour of the city stopping at key points through the tour to talk about architecture and history of Charleston. He is very knowledgeable and we learned quite a lot about what made Charleston's fortune and demise.

We chose to do a walking tour during our anniversary weekend in Charleston and could tell from the get-go that our tour guide (and proprietor) Bill was going to be a riot. It was evident that Bill shares not only a deep understanding of the history and people that built Charleston, but also a passion for the city and its residents. In particular, we asked for a tour more focused on the architecture of the cityā€™s buildings, places of worship and homes, and Bill knew the history of nearly every building we came across. His knowledge went well beyond Charleston, sharing some of his favorite historical insights throughout the tour and of course his enthusiasm for all things Savannah. If you like history, architecture, fun and walking; this is the tour for you.

Our tour with Bill was the highlight of our trip to Charleston. He combined deep local and historical knowledge of the area with a strong point-of-view that engaged us in the history, and elevated this tour above any other tour we've ever taken. I highly recommend this walking tour to anyone trying to get insight beyond the superficial.
