Highlights of Charleston Guided Walking Tour

Overview
Our two hour Highlights of Charleston walking tour guides guests through the historic French Quarter and South of Broad neighborhoods of downtown Charleston. Along the way, your guide will describe the long history, unique culture, architecture, and geography of Charleston and the greater lowcountry area, painting a detailed picture of how Charleston's tumultuous past formed the city now beloved by travelers the world over. You'll view some of the city's oldest houses of worship, burial sites, theaters, the forts of Charleston harbor, and the antebellum mansions that look out across the waters of the Cooper and Ashley rivers, among many other historic and picturesque sites. Our guides also offer their expert advice on other activities, restaurants, and bars for guests to explore once they've finished their tour.

The tour was the highlight of the trip. An excellent history of the area and relevance to America as we know it. Fun and informative, wish we would have done it on day one.

William Harris presents the story of Charleston in all of its facets; from the glories of capitalism to the shame of slavery. His passionate delivery of unvarnished history is settling to oneā€™s soul. Buckle-up, you are in for one fine tour of Charleston, South Carolina.

We were lucky enough to have a private "Civil War" tour of Charleston this morning with Bill of Oyster Point. We requested Bill because we were aware of his immense historical knowledge of the Civil War and how it relates to Charleston. We were not disappointed! We have travelled all over the world and have had history tours of various important cities and battlegrounds but this tour was the best, most informative and truly captivating that I have ever experienced. His knowledge of the area, the people and the driving forces that led up to the Civil War could have kept us listening all day. If you have an interest in true history of the area, not just the usual stuff regarding the beautiful houses, but what is behind the people that lived in those houses, and how it all relates to the Civil War and what is happening today, do not miss this experience. Bill should be teaching history at Harvard and we were lucky enough to have him as our tour guide.
