Highlights of Charleston Guided Walking Tour

Overview
Our two hour Highlights of Charleston walking tour guides guests through the historic French Quarter and South of Broad neighborhoods of downtown Charleston. Along the way, your guide will describe the long history, unique culture, architecture, and geography of Charleston and the greater lowcountry area, painting a detailed picture of how Charleston's tumultuous past formed the city now beloved by travelers the world over. You'll view some of the city's oldest houses of worship, burial sites, theaters, the forts of Charleston harbor, and the antebellum mansions that look out across the waters of the Cooper and Ashley rivers, among many other historic and picturesque sites. Our guides also offer their expert advice on other activities, restaurants, and bars for guests to explore once they've finished their tour.

I arranged this private tour with Bill Harris after reading a review about a Civil War Tour given through a different tour company which the reviewer said was inferior to Oyster Point's. And I'm so glad I did. Not only is Bill extremely knowledgeable about Charleston and the Civil War, but he is passionate on both subjects. He does not sugarcoat actions by either the North and the South, but we found his enthusiasm exciting and just about hung on his words throughout the whole tour. Thanks so much, Bill! Oyster Point used to offer Civil War tours on a regular basis, but now they are by arrangement only. You can email Bill through the Oyster Point Tours website. We took a historic Charleston tour through a different group and wished we had arranged that with Oyster Point also.

I would highly recommend this tour for anyone visiting Charleston who wants to learn about the history of the city from a refreshingly honest and open perspective. Bill (the owner) was our tour guide who showed tremendous passion for the history, landmarks, and everything that Charleston has to offer. He had great energy and made the tour fun and interactive.

We had a private walking tour of the city of Charleston with Bill, the proprietor of Oyster Point. Bill was knowledgeable and informative and enthusiastic. He was reasonably priced at $180 for a two hour tour compared to other private tours. There were four of us on the tour. We give four thumbs up to Bill and Oyster Point for a private tour of the City of Charleston.
